Presentation
Work in Progress
This project description is still being finalized. Details (including claims, dates, and grading) may change before the project begins.
You will present as a team. You will have 10–12 minutes to present.
Required
Presenting your part is required for a C or higher. Every team member must present their part. This is individual: a student who does not present (without a university-approved excused absence) cannot earn higher than a D, even if the rest of the team presents.
Divide the time into 3–4 minute segments: one for each student.
Slides are not required, but if you find them helpful for your presentation, you may use them. The demo must still be live.
Your application must be deployed and presented via a public URL. At any time, the instructor may ask you to open the DevTools. The console should not have any errors or excessive output.
Outline
Plan your presentation around the five rubric criteria below. A suggested order:
- Demo the main use of your app.
- Highlight some of your favorite Intermediate/Stretch features, including the mobile layout.
- Explain how data flows through your app (DevTools can help here).
- Walk through a couple of short code excerpts.
- Reflect on a challenge you faced and how you solved it.
Guidelines
Don’t show your entire code; focus on short, interesting excerpts. For the mobile layout, you may use DevTools device mode, resize the browser window, or use a real phone. Practice transitions beforehand so you know how to support each other and tell a cohesive story about your work.
Rubric
Each criterion is marked met or not yet. A B requires at least 3 criteria met, and an A or A+ requires at least 4 (see bundles). The presentation must fit within 10–12 minutes; anything after 12 minutes is not evaluated. The app shown must be the deployed code-freeze version.
| # | Criterion | Met when… | Met? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Core demo | You walk through the main use of your app on the deployed site, including working with user data and the API. | ☐ |
| 2 | Highlights | You show a few of your Intermediate/Stretch features, and the app on a mobile-sized screen. | ☐ |
| 3 | Data flow | You explain what data comes from the API and what data is saved in localStorage. |
☐ |
| 4 | Code | You show and explain a couple of short code excerpts (not whole files). | ☐ |
| 5 | Reflection | You describe at least one specific challenge you ran into and how you solved it. | ☐ |
