CS 149 Intro to Programming
Configuring Your Computer For CS 149 and Java Development
This class utilizes the Java programming language. For this class, you will need a computer/laptop for attending online classes, but also for developing Java programs. You will be writing Java programs for homework, projects, and during the exams.
Dr. Bowers (a fellow CS 149 instructor here in the CS department) has assembled some video instructions for installing the required software. Make sure to pick the correct video (MS Windows or Apple Mac). Links to these videos are available in Canvas, by clicking on Modules (left side of the page) and referring to the Week 1 -- Before The First Class section.
Of course, software is always changing, so, some of the specific version numbers mentioned or shown in the video have been updated since it was created. Here are a few specifics that might help when using the video:
