Location
The contest will take place in the ISAT/CS building on the East Campus of James Madison University.
Opening/closing sessions and meals will be in the EnGeo building, which is connected to ISAT/CS. Detailed maps and instructions will be provided to attendees, and volunteers will be on site to help attendees find all of the rooms.
Travel
The university provides an official transportation website with information about traveling to JMU, as well as a general map of campus. Here is an excerpt from that map with locations relevant to the contest highlighted:
We anticipate most contest attendees will arrive from the north or south via I-81. We recommend taking exit 245 off I-81 and using either Carrier Dr. or University Blvd. to access campus. If you are arriving from the east or west on US-33, use University Blvd. to access campus.
Parking
Because the contest takes place on a weekend, guests may park in standard spaces without the need for a parking permit. D3, C12, and R4 Lots will be available for general parking.
Please use the university's online parking map to find the above lots and see their location relative to ISAT/CS building. Contact JMU Parking Services (540-568-3300) if you have any questions or concerns. Note that specially marked spaces are enforced 7 days a week. Guests are subject to parking citations if parked in Service Vehicle spaces, handicap spaces without proper permit, fire lanes or other prohibited areas. Timed spaces on campus are also enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The contest takes place the same day as a JMU home football game, so there are some reserved parking lots indicated by signage. This includes D1, D2, and C10 (the lots close to ISAT/CS). However, the game is in the afternoon and we anticipate plenty of open spots in general parking at the time you'll be arriving for the contest. You should be able to park in D3/C12/R4, but if not you can park in the East Campus Parking Deck. All of these parking lots are reasonably close to ISAT/CS and EnGeo (less than 15 minute walk). If you have concerns about this or need to arrange for special disability accommodations, please contact the site director.
Accomodations
There are many hotels in the Harrisonburg area if you wish to stay the night before or after the contest. Because the contest is occurring on the day of a home football game, we recommend booking rooms as early as possible.
If you need food beyond the meals and snacks provided on the contest day, there is a wide variety of options in the Harrisonburg area.
