Safari Adventure!
Introduction
Safari Adventure is a 2D sprite-based
1 video game (a sprite is a small
image which may be moved) in which you move a character through the
African savanna using keyboard controls. In Safari Adventure you have
the option of playing one of three player types:
-
Tourist - tourists take photographs of animals. They receive
points if they hit the 'A' (for action) key while near a wild animal.
-
Veterinarian - Veterinarians receive points for darting animals
and tagging them. The 'A' key causes the veterinarian to fire a dart
which then travels in a straight line in the direction that the
character is facing. If the dart hits an animal, the vet has 30
seconds to reach the animal and place a tracking collar on it by
pressing the 'T' key. The vet receives points for every animal he or
she tags.
-
Guide - The guide is followed by several computer-controlled
tourists. The guide receives points whenever a tourist successfully
takes a picture of an animal and loses points whenever a tourist is
injured by an animal.
The game will also include several computer-controlled animal types:
-
Lion - Lions wander the savanna randomly until they end up
close to a human. When they are close to humans they chase the
nearest human. If a lion reaches the human, the human is injured.
-
Elephant - Elephants wander the savanna randomly. If they
accidentally collide with a human, the human is injured. Elephants do not chase humans.
-
Antelope - Antelopes wander randomly until they end up close to
a human. When they end up near to a human they run away quickly.
