Click here to return to the schedule

Video Lecture (required)

This week's video comes in two parts: (1) the Internet, and (2) the World Wide Web. We first discuss what an IP address is and explore how DNS works. Then we take an inside look at the World Wide Web by viewing and modifying the HTML source of web pages using the developer tools built into the browser.

Questions & Exercises

Some of these questions will be on the next quiz. Remember the answers are in the back of the book.

Additional Clips (recommended)

Code.org recently produced an incredible series of videos about How The Internet Works. The first five videos explain what the Internet is, from the physical infrastructure to the World Wide Web. Sit back for about 30 minutes to watch all five, and don't forget to take notes. (The last two are about encryption and cybersecurity, so you can save them for next week.)
