Video Lecture (required)

In this week's video I talk about binary arithmetic, hexadecimal notation, representing text using ASCII, what a plain text file actually looks like, and how to build your own flip-flop circuit. I also give a short demonstration of Bless Hex Editor and Logisim, two of the software tools we'll use in the lab on Friday.

Questions & Exercises

Each week I will recommend end-of-section problems to help you prepare for Wednesday's class. You will NOT be required to turn them in. Note the answers are in the back of the book. Most of these questions are quick self-checks, and they're good to work though at some point since they may end up on the next quiz.

Additional Clips (recommended)

After you watch these videos, be sure to click on the "Think" and "Dig Deeper" features on the right. I will probably use some of those questions on the next quiz.
