Working with Assembla

If you are working in a Team, each member of the Team must first create an account. Then one member of the Team (e.g., the Scrum Master) must create a repository and then invite the other Team members to use it.

1 Creating an Account

You can create an account at assembla.com.

Note, if you use the link above you will create a free, repository-only account. If you use their main page you will, instead, create a "Free Trial" account that will expire in 7 days. However, if you accidentally create a "Free Trial" account you can downgrade to a free account (that provides repository services only) by sending a message asking them to downgrade you to a free account from their email page.

2 Creating a Repository

One member of the Team (e.g., the Scrum Master) or you, if you are working alone, must
  1. Create a "space" by clicking on "Create a space for your organization".
  2. Create a repository by clicking on "Create a new repository".

Note that the URL will be in lowercase even if the space you created included uppercase letters.

3 Inviting Other Team Members

If you are working in a Team, the member that created the "space" must invite the other members to use it. To do so, first click on the name of the "space" and then click on the "Team" tab.

After that, enter the login name or email address of the person to invite in the "Add team members" field and click on Search. Finally, click on the Add button to send the invitation.

4 Responding to an Invitation

After you receive the invitation email you must respond to it (as described in the email). After you do so, you will have access to the "space".
