Mission Statement: Safe@Home

Introduction

There is considerable evidence that residents of the United States are more security conscious now than ever before. One manifestation of this is an increased interest in home security systems.

While several firms market home security systems, they are not integrated with other home automation/control systems. Given our history, HomeRun is uniquely qualified to develop a security system that can be integrated with other home automation/control systems.

Vision

Allow users to arm and disarm the system at the "push of a button";
Allow users to check the status of windows and doors from a central location, before arming it;
Detect unauthorized entry into a home; and
Notify the police of unauthorized entries into a home.

Target Market

Our preliminary research indicates that there are several home security products on the market, but that they cannot be integrated with other home automation/control systems.

Constraints Definition

Safe@Home must be developed in Java.

Business Requirements

Safe@Home must be usable after only 10 minutes of training.
