While there are a number of "grade book" applications that are designed
for instructors/teachers/profesors, none are designed for students.
We at SagaciousMedia
recognize that students would like to keep an independent
record of their grades and that instructors/teachers/professors,
who want to ensure that their grades are corrct, have an interest in
this as well.
Gradient is our first attempt to address this need.
Vision
Conceptually, Gradient is not the first product of its kind.
However, it is unique. In particular, unlike other products
in this category, Gradient will be used by both the people
assigning grades and the people receiving them.
Target Market
We anticipate that Gradient will be a niche-market product, but for
a large niche (i.e., all educational institutions).
We intend to:
License a version of Gradient to educational institutions
of various kinds that are the "providers" of grades.
Distribute a free version of Gradient to the "recipients"
of grades.
Constraints
Gradient must initially run on MS-Windows, OS X, and Linux.
Ultimately it must also run on mobile devices.
Business Requirements
Gradient must be flexible and must, wherever possible, use existing
standards/protocols.
Gradient must be usable by people with limited computer skills after
only 5 minutes of on-line training (i.e., after reading a short
description).
